As the weather warms up, spring is a perfect time to spruce up you home. After the long winter, it is also good time to also do some preventative measures to help maintain your property throughout the year.
Inside your house, check electrical outlets and cords. Make sure there are no frayed wires or loose-fitting plugs. Also check your fire extinguishers and make sure the nozzle and other parts are in good working order. Additionally, make sure the pressure gauge on the extinguisher is in the “green” range. Check your water heater for leaks and corrosion, your air conditioning unit should be inspected by a professional before you turn it on and it’s a good idea to clean and replace your furnace filter.
Finally, it is incredibly important to check your smoke detectors to ensure all are in working order. Make sure to change the batteries and test them individually- these can save lives when properly working.
