Spring is here and many folks are looking to add #decking to their yards for the upcoming #summer. While wood decks are still the number one choice, many new composite decking options now exist. On the pro side: composite decks require less maintenance, come in a variety of colors, utilize recycled materials and technology is constantly improving the durability and feel of these products.
However, composite decks are pricey. They typically cost 15-20% more than traditional wood decking. Additionally, they don’t look natural and are not completely maintenance free.
Finally, regardless of which option you chose, make sure you talk to your insurance agent when you add you deck to make sure it is covered under your homeowner’s policy.
